BEACH VACATION VIBES VIA THE DESERT

Arizona does not have access to the ocean, however if your travels take you to the Westin Kierland, you are in for a treat, because this hotel property does feature plenty of water-themed activities that will make you feel like you are on a beach vacation. In fact, the entire neighborhood that makes up Kierland, has the sensation of a seaside town.

So if you want that beachy vacation, while in the Arizona desert, check out the  Westin Kierland, as this resort features a surfing simulator, a lazy river, 110 foot long water slide, and a Tommy Bahama themed cabana you can rent which sits upon your own private “island."

    PROPERTY REVIEW

The hotel, designed by local architect Scott Miller, is grandiose and reminds me of my vacations in Hawaii, open entry lobbies with Palm Trees, Bougainvilleas, and plenty of grassy knolls which also make up the Westin Kierland's exquisite golf course. Exotic pets reside in the lobby for your viewing entertainment - huge atriums sit at the base of a massive indoor waterfall featuring reptiles, rattle snakes and other critters local to the Sonoran desert.

The lobby of the Westin Kierland also features a wall of floor to ceiling sliding glass doors, an indoor waterfall, and views of the massive golf course and pools, so, if you have to work while at this resort, this lobby is the place to do it, as one glance up from your laptop will instantly put you in vacation-mode.

    AGAVE SPA

Additionally, booking an appointment at the Agave Spa will allow you to drift away into your own wellness oasis. Choose from services such as full body scrubs, facials and massages complete with a fitness lounge and boutique - Soul Carrier is proudly carried in the retail area. To book a reservation for Agave, The Arizona Spa please call 480-624-1525. Spa hours of operation are Everyday: 9:30 AM-5:00 PM.

    STYLE ADVICE + RESTAURANT SUGGESTIONS

The “beachy vibes” Westin Kierland gives off means breezy vacation clothes work well here. Think sun dresses, long maxi skirts, tank tops with jean shorts, floppy hats and sandals. And two world class shopping malls called Kierland Commons and the Scottsdale Quarter are literally a few steps away from this resort, which means you are within walking distance from some of the most fashionable boutiques and brands Scottsdale has to offer.

Packing a sultry dress or sassy-going-out-outfit would also be wise, some of Scottsdale’s swankier restaurants and bars are seconds away at Kierland Commons and the Scottsdale Quarter and several of these restaurants enforce a strict dress code (no beach or athleisure attire allowed!). See Mastro’s Ocean Club, Zinc, The Mission, Morton’s Steak House, Eddie V’s, Dominic’s Steak House, and Arboleda
